| "I shall capture a lark," cried the minstral with alacrity. "Oh my," said the maid, "that would be quite an abnormality!" "Tis true," observed an old knight, "he would be quite aberrant in doing such a deed." But disreguarding his companions opinions, the minstral decided to steal from good society, capture the lark, and abscond from justice, which would have him leave the lark alone. "Cripes" the minstral said, wiping the sweat off his brow, "this larknapping is requiring far more of an arduous effort that I intended!" But when the minstral finally captured the lark and then presented it to his lady, the court replied with approbation saying "well done oh ammusing minstral!" Thus proving that society is fickle and only wants a good laugh or an abnomilation of the regular routine. The end. (having fun with a vocab list) | | |
| humm - people don't seem to use these very much anymore. quick update just for those morbidly curious about the random life of a random person... I'm sitting in a deadly quiet graduate library of a seminary - bizzare - and there are random smily busts of famous popes, thinkers, theologians looking down at me - thats a bit more bizzare, verging on creepy... So if you were stuck in a library - and forced to memorize a book to get out - what would you memorize... aside from the shortest kiddy book you could find. I think I might memorize the summa theologica - in Latin, or a book on the history of world politics... | | |
| After a peaceful and beautiful Christmastide spent with my family and friends I am once again back in the Northern land of Minnesota. Household life has been slow in starting, our household leader generously gave us the week to collect ourselves before once again plunging into the life of a missionary - now starting at 5:45am for morning prayers!!! (well, to be fair morning prayers don´t start till 6, but I get up early for coffee inorder to be semi conscious during prayers ) Our house has 7 gals now - Maria and Autumn are our two newest members, they both come from community, are fantastic musicians, and are absolutely on fire - it´s been wonderful having them here. I love my roommates, but it´s really nice having gals my age living here, for some reason everything is just more relaxed, and I don´t feel like I´m constantly living in a fishbowl. To make matters even better, every one in the house plays musical instruments with various levels of skill - and both Maria and Autum and phenominal musicans, one´s already released a CD and the other is a classical pianist in addition to playing the guitar and a few other random instruments. The full effect of our house´s musical tallents came to play two nights ago when we had a jam session - it was amazing!!! Mandalins, Flutes, Clairnets, the Piano, Guitars, (and a hot chocolate can) let the good times roll On top of that, it finally snowed here! Surprizingly this is the first time I´ve seen it snow all year - so of course myself, and the other gals in the house went out for an awesome romp in the snow - we tried to ambush the guys with snowballs, but the wimps didn´t want to come outside! Regardless we still had fun bombarding eachother with the newly fallen snow | | |

| so with the wind chill it's going down to -23 tonight - forget I said anything before!
Yesterday I got to play with little kids all afternoon - It was awesome. Part of my year here as a volunteer is "working" at the homeless shelter in downtown Minneapolis - taking care of single mother's kids in an afterschool program. It's tons of fun - most of the kids don't speak English - but for the most part they obviously look out for each other, and are quite polite and fun to be with - not to mention the fact that they love to include us lumbering adults in thier games... I bet you've never been chased by a 2 foot three year old who doesn't speak English - and can catch you no matter how hard you try... it's the worst when the little ones gang up on you - they can speak in their normal language - you don't know what they're saying - and before you know it they've launched a three pronged attack on all your escape routes - outsmarted by 3 year olds - oh the agony! Seriously - if any of you get some free time you should come out here and volunteer in homeless shelters - it's awesome! (Sad - but awesome) God Bless, Mary | | |
